Be Beautiful with Tarte Cosmetics

I have very sensitive skin that’s why I have am very careful on what products I use. I tend to break out and it doesn’t get really pretty. Since I work in a corporate setting, there is a need for me to be presentable and look my best thus the need for make-up.

I struggled which make-up brand to use until a friend recommended Tarte Cosmetics. The first thing that drew me in was the packaging then I zeroed in on the line ALL natural product ingredient cosmetics. I was a bit skeptical about it but decided to give it a try since I have read a lot of reviews online and often see it recommended in magazines.

They were right. The Tarte make-up cosmetics line is ALWAYS formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate and gluten.  I have never experienced a breakout with using them ever.

Here are a few of my favorite products. Most of them are bestsellers and are currently on sale. If you sign up for tarte.com e-mails, you can get 20% off your first order too. (Now is a great time for you to try it or stock up if you use them.)

Amazonian Clay 12-hour blush | maracuja blush & glow | LipSurgence™ matte lip tint  | LipSurgence™ skintuitive lip tint

The Amazonian clay 12-hour blush is my absolute favorite. Using a blush brush, fan over the apples of the cheeks, blending along the cheekbone. This 12-hour blush universally benefits all skin types for a fade-free, flawless finish in shades ranging from soft to vivid and matte to shimmer to suit a wide variety of skin tones. Amazonian clay minimizes oil in and around pores to balance skin and keep product in place while also hydrating the skin naturally to restore moisture, reducing the appearance of dry, flaky skin. I use the dollface blush for my skintone but it comes in other shades as well:
Charisma (warm golden apricot)
Peaceful (soft nude-peach)
Flush (deep berry)
Blushing Bride (plummy rose)
Natural Beauty (red)
Dollface (light pink)
Blissful (warm peach)

What are Tarte Cosmetics’ skinvigorating ingredients?

This is why they use the following natural ingredients: Amazonian Clay, acai berry extract, acerola, Vitamins A, C & E, Goji berry extract, Maracuja, mineral pigments, olive esters, peppermint oil, pomegranate and rice bran wax.

Summer Make-up Tips

Summer demands fuss free makeup. A naturally pretty look that would not streak when you sweat. Something that is low maintenance and which looks great on the beach.

The trouble is, that carefree, nude makeup look is a lot harder to achieve than a painted face. How do you use makeup and look like you were born that way?

Step 1 – Perfect with concealer

Depending on the state of your skin, you may or may not need concealer. If your skin is great, just use a tinted moisturizer to add color to your face. Pick a shade as close to your natural coloring as possible. Like sometimes how great tone can be made from a nice set of gretsch drums at Guitar Center, invest on a good concealer.

If you have zits, then use a brush and dab on a little concealer over it. If you have dark rings, hide them with a concealer as well. Use as little as possible to keep your look natural.

Step 2 – Paint with lipstick

Make your lips thoroughly kissable. Soft, rosy lips that glisten in the sun are perfect for summer… and all year round.

You’ll need a touch of lipstick to add color to your bare face. Go for a pretty color like coral, rose, or a soft pink. The trick is to look in the mirror and see the color inside your lip. Pick your lipstick in a color similar to that for the most natural, prettiest look.

Take a lip brush and paint on the lipstick. Start by drawing the outline of your lips with the lip brush, then fill then in. Blot the lipstick with a tissue paper, then apply again. This would help the color stay on longer. Slick on a lip gloss for shine over the entire lips, or at least over the center of your bottom lip to make your lips look fuller.

Step 3 – Highlight with mascara

Bring the focus to your eyes. Your eyes are your best asset. Especially when framed by lush eyelashes. Since it is summer, go for a waterproof mascara. Make sure you get a good eye makeup remover to remove it each night before you sleep.

Get ready a clean mascara wand to separate your lashes. You can wash and dry the wand of an old mascara, or you could buy an eyelash comb.

Apply mascara over your upper lashes. Then touch a little mascara on your lower lashes with the tip of your mascara wand. Separate the lashes with a clean mascara brush or wand and let the mascara dry. Once the mascara is completely dry, you may apply a second coat if you want more dramatic lashes. Separate the lashes after this second coat as well.

Fall Make-up Trends: Black Cherry Lipstick

The crimson hue is the trend right now with cooler weathers coming. And I am not talking about red “Marilyn Monroe” hues but vampire-ish colors.

Think black red like this one worn by Zoe Saldana:

It has taken a vampier turn with black cherry. This shade goes so deep it’s almost black but unlike the other vampy fall makeup must-have (think Azealia Banks’s trademark pout), this one still holds onto its red roots. You are definitely going to be needing some good brew supplies for this!

Black Cherry Lipsticks to try:

Tips on Putting on False Eyelashes

Kim Kardashian Smokey Eye

Thanks to Katy Perry and the Kardashians, wearing false eyelashes is back and becoming a trend, thanks to their overly extended and luscious lashes! I honestly cannot stand wearing falsies for a long time since my eyes tend to twitch when tired. And if there is something heavy weighing on them, they twitch even more. I’d need duracell procell aa batteries for my eyes I think :). Fortunately, the falsies available in the market today are light so wearing them all day is easier!

1. Look for ones that are light with some space in between the lashes, to better blend with your real lashes.
2. Use only a small amount of glue when putting on fake eyelashes, you should put them on starting with the interior of your eye moving outward.
3. Put eyeliner on before you put your lashes on. Liquid liner is best because it’s thick and can hide the space between your false lashes and your real ones.
4. The best way to keep them looking natural is to first place the false lash on your eye BEFORE putting on the glue. While looking in the mirror, notice where your eyelashes end and the false lashes begin. Then take a tiny pair of scissors and trim the lashes to match your own (make sure to remove the false eyelash from your eye BEFORE doing this).
5. Once you have the lashes on, simply put mascara over both your false eyelashes and your real ones, to bind them together.

Mastering the No-Makeup Look

I love make-up! But I still do not know how to apply them beautifully. I have always wanted to learn how to apply the barely-there no make-up look. And almost every make-up artist would tell me the same thing: Start and invest in good skin. Like a good car, lamborghini custom floor mats would still not look good if it is not clean.

Here are some tips too:
1. Shop for a foundation that matches you exact shade.
2. Shop for a great concealer.
For things like redness, uneven skin tone, sallowness, sometimes special types of concealer are required.

Problem: Undereye bluish veins
Color Solution for Light/Med Skin: Light peach/salmon
Color Solution for Med/Dark Skin: Honey yellow/salmon/orange

3. Blush/Bronzer.

Blush and bronzer both do wonderful things to wake up skin of all colors. To apply bronzer, use this trick I learned from the folks at Estee Lauder: apply in an “E” from the temples, sweeping to the hollows of the cheeks, and then sweep down to the bottom of the jaw for a natural sun-kissed look. Apply blush to the apples of the cheeks.

For more dry and mature skin try creme blush and bronzer.
