FOREVER 21 Spring 2011 lookbook
It’s time to make sure your skin is as flawless as it can be and you are at your best shape since spring is here and it means shorter skirts, lightweight clothes which show more skin. I’d get started on the back acne treatment too, if you have back acne, since it is also swim season!

Looking for the Perfect Dress?
The months of February and March are usually the time for prom in schools where we live. I actually have a lot of nieces who experienced their first prom last month and it was truly memorable for them. Of course, the months leading to the special night were all about losing weight, freaking out on every pimple that comes out, and finding the perfect prom dress! For ladies, it is almost always about the dress, not so much about the prom itself! It is often the first time they are going to be dressing up real nice and naturally, they would want it to be perfect. I have been looking at the trends for prom dresses 2011 and noticed the following:
1. It seems white is the new black, in terms of prom dresses.
2. And the same goes for dark-colored hues, most dresses are in bright hues!
3. Camel is another popular choice – so are navy, khaki and green. It seems green is everywhere! It is perfect for spring too.
4. Orange hues are a hit too – from tangerine to burnt orange, peach to fiery shades.
5. Most dresses have Hollywood (old 50s) as inspiration and lengths vary, focusing on asymmetrical hemlines.
Here are some inspiration from PromGirl.net:
Most high school students prefer to wear cocktail dresses these days too, since prom night means dancing all night long. They would naturally want to be in a dress that will allow them to dance freely, and long gowns with trains or with mermaid cuts/hemlines would not work with dancing. It will also be more cost-effective in the long run, as it can be worn at any occasion afterwards – parties, weddings, formal dinners. With cocktail dresses, colors are the key. I see different hues from pastels to jewel-toned colors to earth tones.
I also notice that fashion inspiration from the catwalk has made it to prom dresses too – check out animal prints and lace in these dresses:
Sequince + lace + tulle = stunner of a dress (I’m not sure if conservative parents will like this though!)
As with any prom dresses, there are also formal dresses ladies can choose from. It remains to be a classic choice for most ladies as they do not get to have the chance to wear something princess-like until they get married or celebrate their 18th birthday in a formal way, like in a debutante party. Since formal dresses are not used that often, it needs to be taken cared of well and stored neatly so it can be worn, fresh as new, when the time comes. It would also help to stick to classic lines and hues for dresses like these.
Leather Jackets: Men’s Essential Clothing
If there is an example of a piece of clothing both men and women need and consider a staple in their wardrobe, it would be leather jackets. AllSaints, a popular men’s clothing store online, carries varied styles of leather jackets.
Why are leather jackets considered a trendy and classic piece in one’s wardrobe? Not only is it stylish and trendy or classic depending on the style, it gives one warmth and protection against extreme heat, wind or cold.
There are different type of leather jackets in stores – there are hip length, full length, trench coat styles and 3/4th length jackets. Others are studded with accessories like metal studs, fur or chains while others are hemmed with visible stitches for a classic look. Whereas before leather jackets are pretty much associated with bikers, these days, leather jackets are worn even by those who are considered suave and sophisticated. It all depends on the style.
Here are some popular types:
1. Aviator Jackets
If you have seen the movie Top Gun, starring Tom Cruise, the military jacket worn by pilots in the movie are the aviator jackets. This is a style of the military jacket, most commonly paired with military boots and trousers.
2. Biker Jackets
This style of leather jacket is what we usually associate leather jackets by. This type of style conforms with the rugged man with a more masculine physique. When you wear this jacket, there is only one way you can pull wearing it off – attitude and confidence.
3. Bomber Jacket.
There are many styles of bomber jacket available, and there is usually a style to suit any look. Bomber jackets are great for downplaying problem areas, such as narrow hips, and emphasizing positive features, such as great abs. You can go all rugged or sophisticated with this jacket, depending on the cut you choose.
Blues and Beiges
You may think that baby blue would be well-suited for baby boys and polo shirts for men. Think again. The peg below from FabSugar easily proves that baby blues coupled with beige accents are a perfect color combination for your outfits this Spring!

Baby blue is all grown up for Spring, paired with beige accents, à la Emmy Rossum. It’s a color combo that feels fresh and chic for the season ahead, and key pieces play off trends we already love, like a bit of chambray or a pair of boyfriend-style chinos
Gisele Bundchen for H&M

Way to rub it in Gisele! Please do not remind me how young her son is and she still looks like she didn’t even gain weight whereas I am still trying to get rid of all those post-pregnancy fat from five years ago! She must really love being at the gym, exercising on the pull up bar because her arms are strong and gorgeous and sexy!
So before I forget about H&M and just focus on Gisele, let me say that I love looking the clothes they offer. I have never bought pieces from them but I am planning as soon as I lose more weight.
Wearing a Cardigan
A cardigan is a must have for any woman who works at the office, has a tank top, has a sundress or feels that they have huge arms. It is like sleeping pills for an insomniac, it is a temporary or comfort cure for an insecurity. However, it doesn’t need to worn the same all the time. Variety is the key!
Here are some ideas from the Budget Fashionista:
Belt It: Nothing can give a potentially librarian-ish cardi more va-vavoom than cinching in the waist, and, particularly If your chosen sweater already has a little bling built in, this season we’d suggest a skinny belt. The look is modern (we’ve seen it on Rosario Dawson — love.) especially if you pick a skinny belt, and, for evening, some patent shine. And while you can match your belt to your sweater for a monochrome look, don’t be afraid to mix it up (we like deep purple with a pale gray, or silver with black).
Brooch It: Need to kick up your cardigan’s holiday flava, and want the cinched/wrap look without the belt? Try a fab sparkly brooch — wrap the cardi like you’re going to belt it and instead secure it at the waist with a pretty pin. No need to spend a bundle — something like this faceted brooch from Forever21 will do the trick, for less than $7, or, if you want something a little more one of a kind, peruse the offerings at etsy.com.
Balance With Some Sex Appeal: Still worried that a cardigan will be too, well, stuffy when you’d rather have some sizzle? You can look feminine and sexy in a cardigan if you like — it’s all about balance. The rule is if you’re covered up on top, you can show a little extra leg (of course, how much depends on the nature of the function — if it’s work related, keep it clean people).
Wardrobe Advice: Work Outfits
Even if I no longer work and do not need to know the best food storage you can bring to work that is microwaveable, dishwasher safe and seals in food small, I love looking at the outfit ideas from the Wardrobe Diaries. It makes me feel that I am still in the know which classic and trendy pieces one can wear to work.
Bring a pop of vibrant color to the boardroom in this bold purple pencil skirt topped with a classic white button-down.
A twinset is anything but stuffy with this modern take on a work wardrobe classic.
Topshop
Topshop’s got your back when it comes to affordable, on-point style. Bring your closet up to date with our favorite work-appropriate pieces under $100:

I have been a fan of Topshop since I was in high school and it is great to know that their styles have evolved but remained to be fashionable, trendy and affordable. My sisters wants me to get a weeping willow tree to add to her collection but I think she will beg off for now since she wants that brogue shoes and mulberry look alike bag!
Dainty Dresses
I have always loved vintage, feminine-looking dresses even if I am big-boned and wearing them would be the death of me (fashion-wise). For me to lose an XX amount of weight, I might need to read up on hgh reviews to find out if I am fit for it!
