Pantone’s 2012 Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango

By now you must have heard that tangerine tango (an orange-ish, reddish shade with some hint of brown and yellow at the same time) is Pantone’s chosen color for the year 2012. And what does it translate to fashionistas?

Numerous style spreads from fashion stylists of course!

This is Shopstylist’s Pink Mascara’s chic look. A marigold strapless dress complements the military-inspired, tangerine short coat. Because the loafers and a large satchel are timeless designs, you can pull off the bold, radiant tangerine color without worrying about going overboard. So if you are an equestrienne, wearing equestrian helmets with a hint of tangerine tango won’t be going a bit overboard ;)

Mondrian-Inspired Colorblocking

Color blocking is not showing any signs of going away anytime soon and it might be fun to know where it came from. You would not need birthday invitations to wear this because it is versatile to wear to work and play.

Dutch painter Piet Mondrian was one of the pioneers of modern art, using abstract black lines and primary blocks of color in most of his designs. One of the first fashion designers to re-interperet Mondrian’s aesthetic in clothing was Yves St. Laurent, who actually created “The Mondrian Collecton,” at the height of mod culture in 1965.

Funny & Original T-Shirts at Polly & Crackers

I have always been a t-shirt and jeans kind of gal. This is why I look for quality fashionable (but affordable) t-shirts which I can wear over and over without it growing old on me right away. I discovered Polly & Crackers one night while I was “window-shopping” online for new shirts. Funny, Original Tees are available from $19.50 and go on sale at $17.00. What I like about statement shirts like these is that they can be worn by men and women alike without being too gender specific. Of course, there are messages in the shirts that might be primarily geared towards a specific sex but otherwise, the design and colors are fit for both men and women.

Here are some designs that have caught my attention:

If you need more visuals, you can actually click on a shirt design to view it larger and get some pictures of models wearing them as well.

You got to love their graphic designs – they give you a retro vibe and make you fashionable just by wearing tees! Of course, nothing beats confidence. Wear it – and you can wear anything!

Polly & Crackers tee’s are 100% ring-spun, ultra-soft cotton. Shirts will shrink a little if machine-dried on high. They accept payment methods via Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and Paypal and ship for only $3.50 per order (USPS – $1.99 per additional shirt). International shipping is also available.

Some Really Funny Shirts

Who would not want these funny shirts? I have seen statement shirts worn with increasing frequency lately, most especially by teenagers trying to make their statement through their clothes. Not only do they look cute, they can deliver one might message as well. These are great ideas for gifts too!

I think I will really consider this for gifts this Christmas!

How to Wear Double Denims

double denim how to wear

It seems denims are back – the question is how do you wear them without looking like a cowgirl, or a maintenance girl with a utility knife that goes to work (not that I have anything against them)? I love Katie Holmes’ and Reese Witherspoon’s take – and would probably wear darker colored jeans since I am bottom heavy.

Here are some tips from the pros (and the stars)
[1] Lighten up: Ashley Tisdale pairs a lightwash denim shirt with white jeans and peep-toe clogs for a boho summer look.
[2] Think black and blue: Kourtney Kardashian wears one of my all-time favorite classic combos for running errands, namely, a blue denim jacket, white t-shirt and black skinny jeans. Just toss on and go!
[3] Add a pop of color: To break up the monotone of her all-blue denim ensemble, Katie Holmes adds a patterned scarf and bright orange Hermes bag.
[4] Stick to similar washes: Sienna Miller rocks dark gray jeans with a muddy blue denim shirt. It works because both washes are a bit edgy and equally gritty.
[5] Mix high-contrast pieces: When in doubt, pick a really lightwash top and really darkwash bottom, like Reese Witherspoon. The overall effect is crisp and clean.
[6] Pick a pattern: Diane Kruger combines a pinstripe jean, pink top, denim shirt and tweed jacket for an eclectic look that defies all rules. Floral jeans are another fun option.

Fashion Staple: Women’s Polo Shirts

One cannot deny how womens polo shirts are a still a fashion staple. Women t-shirts teamed with a pair of denim jeans, skirt or shorts, women’s t-shirts are a casual summer wardrobe staple and can be just as useful layered under knitwear, coats and jackets in the winter for extra warmth. The same thing can be considered for polo shirts for men.

One of the great things about polo shirts is the variety. You can choose them based on color, sleeve length and fit.

You can even wear them to work! Since most of a person’s time is spent at work, uniform shirts should be easy to wash and wear with a flattering feel. Polo shirts made specifically for women are tailored to fit their body shape perfectly.

You can have custom polo shirts done for uniforms, team organizations and charity events without sacrificing style. Promotional polo shirts offer a way to get your team all looking the same.

At LeadApparel.com, they offer a variety of polo shirts for sports, style and work. They have camp shirts, compression shirts, dri fit shirts, rugby shirts, tank tops and work shirts. You get free shipping when you spend $75 or more too!

Spring Staple: Cardigans (Ann Taylor)

The cardigan should be a staple in everyone’s spring wardrobe. It is like an essential horse equipment to equestrians if you think about it.

Cardigans is a perfect layering staple for your wardrobes because it is light enough to carry with you during trips and put on during balmy and windy spring evenings. And who to turn to when buying them except Ann Taylor?

Spring Trend: Rompers

romper

I have been seeing so many lovely rompers at ModCloth lately. They actually went on sale a couple of weeks ago. While deciding what to wear to tonight’s party or cook-out or while thinking about something serious like getting disability insurance, look at the ones I like:

What are your picks?

Don’t be discouraged if you don’t know how to wear them. There are so many ways to wear a romper! You will never run out of ideas!

The Letter is P.

I am Peggy and I love to delight and amuse myself with anything artistically visual. I spend many hours on Etsy and either send money, get frustrated because I do not have money and wish I was talented with anything other than having the talent to spot nice things.

Which I think all people inherently have.

I love to shop. I love to window shop. Online.
