A Complete Style Guide to Cheerleading Accessories

Just like how accessories make or break an outfit, cheerleading accessories also enhance (or ruin, if not completely thought of) a cheerleading outfit. No matter how nice a cheerleading uniform is, without the proper underclothes and matching accessories like bows, ribbons and pom poms, it would not have the same effect on the field. And cheerleaders need to stand out – it is part of their performance.

Cheerleading Accessories are additional items that complete a cheerleading outfit. It includes pom poms, cheer shoes, hair bows, flash gloves, megaphones, body suits and briefs, socks and even glitter make-up. It makes the whole cheerleading outfit more vibrant and complete.

Pom Poms

Pom poms come in a variety of colors, sizes and materials. They are used to enhance cheering routines and stunts.

Cheer shoes

Cheer shoes are specifically designed for the stunts and should be slip-resistant. Hence they should provide the appropriate comfort and friction required to perform the action. One should look for lightweight shoes that allow feet to breathe. Finger grooves on the soles of the shoe will also be a useful addition that will help cheerleaders through stunts where they will be lifted into the air.

Hair bows

Cheerleading bows complete a cheerleader’s look. It is often preferred that all of the members of the cheering squad use the same cheer bow and style their hair similarly. This is to ensure that the team has a symmetrical look that enhances over all performance. It also keeps hair away from the face as to not distract the cheerleader from performing well.
